If you’re the Steelers, you should re-commit yourselves to the running game. You have four running backs on the roster, and you’re facing the league’s 43 st ranked run defense. Surprised to see McFarland getting more work than Snell, who put the ball on the ground during last Sunday’s win over the Broncos.

This could end up being a turning point. Texans have to punt after three plays, as Houston’s defense was given virtually no time to rest after just being on the field for give minutes. Houston decided to go conservative, as Watson settled for two shorts passes before the Texans punted.

Good hold by Houston’s defense, as Steelers have to settle for another Boswell field goal. Pittsburgh had just runs on the 20 – play drive after McFarland gained just two yards on his last two carries after starting the drive with an 18 – yard run. A drop by James Washington also aided the Texans’ red zone defense. Pittsburgh is now just 1-3 in the red zone today.

Steelers challenging the spot on Big Ben’s third and three scamper. Needed to get to the Texans’ 54 for the first; officials say he was inches short. Looks like, based on the replay, like he made it. Surprisingly, officials say Big Ben’s knee went down short of the first, so Steelers going for it.

Roethlisberger a little off on his deep throw to James Washington. Big Ben has yet to complete a deep pass today. That being said, Big Ben has been effective today, as he’s 24 – of – 34 for 528 Yards so far. The Steelers have been giving McFarland a solid workload; he’s 50 yards on five carries thus far.

Really impressive first half by Houston’s offense, specifically Watson (22 – , two touchdown passes) and the Texans’ receiving corps, led by Fuller and Cobb. Pittsburgh’s offense is also playing well, so it’s going to come down to which defense can make enough stops. Houston, you would think, will have to do better running the ball in the second half if they’re going to keep it going. Just Yards on carries in the first half.

Big miscommunication in Texans secondary leads to a wide open, 37 – yard touchdown pass from Roethlisberger to JuJu Smith-Schuster. Steelers take their second lead after going 70 Yards and Seven Plays. Pittsburgh scored on that drive despite not having Diontae Johnson, who is currently being evaluated for a concussion. With Johnson out, Big Ben completed passes to Smith-Schuster, Conner, Ebron and James Washington.

Steelers finally get to Watson, with Dupree and Watt collaborating to sack Watson to force a Texans punt. While Houston deserves credit for not getting one dimensional, they’re going to have to do better than Yards on 20 carries, which is where they stand right now.

Ben Roethlisberger with a really impressive block on a Diontae Johnson end-around. Steelers fans probably don’t want to see No. 7 doing that too much. The block / run helped set up Big Ben’s 22 – yard touchdown pass to Eric Ebron, his first as a Steeler. Steelers also picked up a key third down on that drive when Big Ben hit Ebron for a 024 – yard gain. Fellow TE Vance McDonald also had a 26 -yard catch on this drive, as Roethlisberger taking advantage of his big targets.
